Fall Season Wrap Up:

It is hard to believe but we have come to the end of yet another girls' volleyball season. With the closing of the 2011 season as a coach I am truly proud of all the players and their dedication to this team. All the girls this year worked extremely hard, and gave everything that they had day in and day out. This year was somewhat of a rebuilding year. Although, we had numerous returning players, we lost three key players from last year. However, this group of girls stepped up and consistently played well together.

We welcomed some new faces to the team. The new players that contributed most to our team this season were: Lexi Parayno, Chelsleigh Gomez, and Ariana Federici. All these girls' came in this season, and worked hard, learning the game as they went along. By the end of the season you could see that they were becoming more confident in their abilities. Unfortunately, Lexi and Chelsleigh are seniors and will be moving on next year, but it was great to have them this season.

Hailey Bober and Christina Melfi played in the setter position and were crucial to each game. They were the two players that set up the hitters Alex Wall, Leslie Pavao, Lexi Parayno, Chelsleigh Gomez, and Jaylynn Cooley.

Competing in Division II as a small school like Fatima is never easy, we are playing teams that are double our size, and have much greater skill. However, this group of girls played as a TEAM every game. It was amazing to see the team unity that they had. It was never one individual's game. They made their opponents earn each point, never lying down in defeat.

Good Luck to our SENIORS!! Hailey Bober, Leslie Pavao, Lexi Parayno, and Chelsleigh Gomez you will be missed next year!!

Athlete of the Month: September 2011

Hailey Bober
Congratulations to Hailey Bober for being named Fatima High School Athlete of the month for September.

Hailey Bober is a senior captain of the Fatima High School girl's volleyball team. Hailey showed excellent leadership throughout the month, as she was a major contributor to the girl's volleyball team picking up a couple wins. With her lead by example attitude, she is a hard worker on the court and a great motivator to her teammates. She did an excellent job keeping the team focused, pumped up, and ready to play each game.

Athlete of the Month: October 2011

Megan Delamer
Congratulations to Megan Delamer for being named Fatima High School Athlete of the month for October.

Megan Delamer is a junior and captain of the cross-country team at Fatima High School. This year and this month especially Megan has really emerged as a high quality runner. She put in a lot of hard work over the summer and throughout the first month of the season. All of that hard work has really paid off in the month of October. Megan's times have been dropping down all season and not only has she been running personal bests each time out; she was able to reach a set goal she had in her mind from the start of the season. The goal Megan had set for herself was to qualify for the Cross Country State Championship Meet. Megan achieved that goal on the last weekend of October running a personal best time of 22 minutes and 34 seconds qualifying her as an individual to participate in the state meet.

Athlete of the Month: December 2011

Brian McParlin
Congratulations to Brian McParlin for being named the Fatima High School Athlete of the month for December 2011.

Brian McParlin has emerged as one of the best young players in the state for boy’s basketball. He is currently in the top ten in scoring in the state according to the Providence Journals website. He continues to improve every day and continues to score lots of points each game despite being double and triple teamed on some nights. Brian continues to keep a positive attitude on and off the court and works to make everyone around him better. Academically Brian has excelled in the classroom. On the court the leadership he shows is why he was named a captain as a sophomore. His work ethic and determination continue to drive him to get better. Brian is the first person in the gym and the last to leave each day.

Athlete of the Month: January

Congratulations to Megan Delamer for being named the Fatima High School Athlete of the month for January 2012.

Megan Delamer has led the Fatima High School girl's basketball team all season in scoring and steals. She is one of the hardest working players on the team. To improve on her game Megan stays after practice everyday and shoots extra free throws. She has shown excellent leadership on and off the court with her lead by example attitude. Megan has helped lead the lady tigers to a number of victories this season and continues to rise to the occasion each and every game.

Fatima High School Cross Country 2011

Season Recap

Fatima High School finished up its third year of cross-country under Coach Joe Parenteau. This year, like years past, someone from both the boys and girls team stepped up to take control and lead the way. This season it was the brother-sister duo of Senior John Delamer and Junior Megan Delamer. The amount of effort and running put in over the summer really showed up this year for both runners. Both Megan and John came into the season running personal best times and continued to improve throughout the season. Other notable improvements came from Sophomore Sarah Palmer and Senior Alex Melfi. A pleasant surprise to the Boys cross-country team this year was first year runner, Senior Dillon Renzi. Dillon came on the team this year and ran as Fatimas number two runner for the majority of the season. Cross-country is a tough sport that takes a lot of time and dedication. The team put in a lot of hard work despite the weather, the workouts, and everything and anything else. As for any team the goal from the start of the season to the end of the season is improvement. The Fatima runners showed lots of improvement from the first meet at Burriville Middle School for the Injury Fund to the last meet of the season at the Class Championship at Ponagansett.
