A student's academic achievement is generally recognized by attaining a membership on one of the Honor Societies. There is National Recognition and State Honors as well. For students in grades 7, 8 & 9 there is a Junior Honor Society. FATIMA awards Honors on a quarterly basis. The National Honor Society is open to any Sophomore, Junior, or Senior who qualifies. Since the Honor Society recognizes more than academic achievement, the prospective candidates must be selected by the Faculty Council on evidence of leadership, service, character, and good citizenship.
The induction ceremony will be held annually during an honors assembly. A student who fails to attain membership may become eligible if the requirements are maintained. Eligibility is renewed twice a year by the faculty council. In Addition, a Rhode Island Honor Society Membership is limited to seniors who manifest qualities of character, service and helpful leadership and who have maintained a scholastic average of 85% during the sophomore, junior and first semester of the senior year. |
