Fatima Academics
|
There are several reasons why FATIMA creates an ideal atmosphere for learning. There are smaller class sizes that allow for greater student/teacher interaction. Also, the student-centered learning allows individuals to pursue their academic careers alongside others who are equally interested. It cultivates a unique learning environment that provides value by generating results for students. FATIMA's academic values are present throughout its wide range of subjects. This is due in part to the ongoing commitment of the faculty and administration at FATIMA. |

Forensic Science Coming Alive at Fatima High School
Using computers and PhysioEx software, students in forensic science are learning the basics of antigen-antibody reactions. This enables them to increase problem solving skills and understand crime scene investigation. Students are learning how to conduct forensic serological blood tests and blood typing as well as methods of identifying blood found at a crime scene. Using these methods students will be able to reconstruct the events of a crime.

Middle school students conducted qualitative analysis of common substances found around the home. In this exercise, they conducted various tests on 6 unknowns. The tests included pH testing, testing for the presence of carbohydrates, water solubility and reaction with an acid. Once the tests have been completed, students will be given a list of the substances they tested and will be challenged to identify the unknown substances.
